Oh my heavens this most one of the biggest highlights of my trips! Malena, Sue and I left the Summer Palace early that afternoon to find the Olympic Square! We ran around asking people if they spoke english, to write us directions, flaggin down taxi's and then perfecting the Beijing Subway! But we made it out from underground and popped up to see everything I was so excited for this whole trip to see!! The bird's nest was amazing! I never really liked it's architect til I saw it in person! It was magnificent! I was sooo excited to be there people were looking at me like calm down it's ok :) But we ran around and bought tickets to get into the square! The Water Cube was amazing!!! I kept wanting Michael Phelps to pop around the corner!! I think I would have just ran up and hugged him to death ha ha. People all over were stopping us to take pictures with them!
I felt like a celebrity for the afternoon it was awesome!! And then parents would have their kids run up to us to have photos of us with their kids. I was like gee I could totally pretend I'm an olympian right now :) But it was so much fun to be in the square. I got to see the track and field too! It was sad because all the tickets were sold out to actually go in the inside of the Olympic Event Places, so we just got to be on the outside, which was just fine with me because I was so happy to just be there! I thought of my sisters and family being there and was like ahhhh we watched the olympics everynight together!!!! I wish they were with me!!
